EC Qualification

National teams visiting

The European Team Championships take place every year in February: In “odd” years, the men and women play the European Mixed Team Championships. There are 5 matches per tie: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
In “even” years, the men and women play in separate teams (=European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships). A tie consists of 3 singles and 2 doubles.

Qualifying tournament

The European Team Championships also serve as a qualifier for the corresponding World Team Championships, which are held in May.

However, qualification is also required for the European Team Championships. Only the defending champion(s) and the country in which the event takes place are guaranteed a starting place. All other nations must qualify via qualifying tournaments, which are held in various countries in December of the previous year.
At each European Team Championship, 8 nations compete.
