The first Champions
The German Championships (O19) were held for the first time on January 17 and 18, 1953 in Wiesbaden, where the German Badminton Association (DBV) was founded.

Timing
The German Individual Championships usually take place at the end of January/beginning of February. Spectators can expect spectacular rallies, exciting matches and plenty of emotion over the four days of the event.
The 73rd edition will take place from January 30 to February 2, 2025 in Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony. The last time that the German Individual Championships were held in Lower Saxony was in 1997 – back then in Hanover.
